Q. What is Human Centric lighting?

Any good lighting solution is customer-centric and in turn human-centric. Lighting influences human behavior & regulates it in a positive way, which is known as human-centric lights. Different colors (tunable/color changing) with lighting control in different rooms enable one to create an ambiance to suit their mood. Yellow light creates a soothing environment, white light creates alertness, red light enhances sleep and blue light enhances productivity.

Q. What is Dimmability solution?

Dimmability refers to controlling the intensity/brightness of illumination. For LED-based lights, one can increase and decrease the light intensity through trailing edge dimmers or phone apps. In order to be dimmable, a product should have a dimmable driver or dimming tool. Dimming can be from 0% to 100% or 10% to 100% depending on LED Chip/driver capability.

Q. What is a Tunability solution?

Tunability is the gradual changing of the light source from yellow to white (3000K-4000K-6500K) or vice versa. It can be done through trailing edge dimmers/apps/on-off switches. Products can be made tunable with tunable drivers or the mentioned tunable tools.

Q. What is the interchangeability of lamps?

Interchangeability of lamps refers to a product having options of using different lamp technologies as per requirement. The same product with one specific lamp base (B22, E14, E27, G9, etc.) can be used with Filament Lamp, CFL, and LED. The light output- lumen efficacy will change as per the usage of the light source.

Q. What do we mean by color-changing lamps?

Color changing lamps have the feature of tunability (Yellow to White and Vice-Versa) or color changeability, which means customizing the color of the light from a plethora of available options in a spectrum. It can be done through Apps/On-off switches and is available in lamp base-B22 and E27.

Q. What are the Beam Angle of a lamp and its significance?

The beam angle of the lamp is the degree of width that light emits from a light source, wherein the light intensity is maximum in the middle and 50% on the sides. A very narrow or narrow beam is used for highlighting or giving light & shadow effects. A medium beam is used for general illumination. A wide or flood beam is used for security purposes or diffused fixtures.

Q. What is the CRI of the LED chip and its significance?

The CRI of an LED chip stands for Colour Rendering Indicates (CRI), the degree to which a list source shows the “true” colors of the objects it illuminates. It is expressed in terms of a color-rendering index (CRI) on a scale of 0-100. Higher the CRI, greater is its ability to show true colors and is denoted as Ra. Ra = 90 – 100, has excellent color rendering properties; Ra = 80 – 90, has good color rendering properties ; Ra = 60 – 80, has moderate color rendering properties and Ra < 60, has poor color rendering properties.

Q. What is the full form and significance of SDCM?

SDCM stands for Standard Deviation of Colour Matching. It defines chromatic aberrations using the Macadam ellipses.

Q. What are Binning and its significance?

LED chips are manufactured in batches. Batch products have inherent variations due to raw materials and process tolerances. Similar performance chips are grouped together in bins and the process is called binning. Grouping is done on the basis of CCT, Lumen & Voltage

Q. What are Lumen Efficacy and its significance?

Lumen Efficacy is the measure of how well a light source produces visible light from electricity. Efficacy is the efficiency of a light source to convert electrical energy to light energy. It is expressed in lumen output per unit power input watt. Efficacy = lumen / wattage.

Q. What do we mean by the color temperature of lamps and its significance:

CCT stands for correlated Color Temperature. Different color temperatures have different effects on human behavior. 2700K warm yellow light creates an inviting and comfortable ambiance and encourages a warm, cozy, and open mood. 4000K warm daylight creates an efficient and balanced ambiance and has a neat and clean effect on our mood. 6500K cool daylight creates a crisp, refreshing, and energetic setting with encourages a bright and alert mood.

Q. What are the benefits of Borosilicate glass?

There are many benefits of Borosilicate glass. It is a clear, compact, glass made of 15% boron trioxide. It is less susceptible to fractures due to the high proportion of silicon-di-oxide. It is environment friendly and resistant to chemicals. It will not crack under extreme temperature changes (can withstand temperatures up to 170 degrees) and is easy to clean.
